Compassionate, Individualized Psychotherapy

Turning Awareness into Action

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Kyla (she/her) and I’m a licensed clinical social worker. My background is in mental health, sexual health, and how those two things intersect.

Maybe a recent life change has created some new problems for you, or brought up old stuff. Or perhaps, you're doing okay in your day-to-day life, but have been wondering if therapy could help you do some deeper work. In any case, I'm here to help.

I help folks learn more effective ways to work through their emotional struggles, and create a life of meaning, pleasure, and authenticity.

I also enjoy working with people on personal growth, identity, life transitions, and sexual self-empowerment.

My Approach

My therapeutic style is nonjudgmental and collaborative, a little humorous, and has just a touch of “skeptical woo-woo.”

I enjoy teaching people about how the brain, the nervous system, and emotions work. I also believe that truth is more complex than a single scientific explanation, and that our truths are shaped by our experiences and identities.

Insight alone does not always lead to relief or change. I blend science with the power of a solid therapeutic relationship to help folks turn awareness into action.

My previous training includes cognitive-behavioral therapies, relational-cultural therapy, mindfulness, self-compassion, and sexual health education. In addition to being trauma-informed, my practice is queer & trans affirming, kink & non-monogamy aware, and sex work affirming.

Outside of Therapy

In addition to travel and spending time with friends, I love a scary movie - though preferably in balance with a comedy right afterward.

I am a board game enthusiast, a plant parent, and I do my best to keep up with my meditation practice.

I like to cook in a way that doesn’t quite follow the recipe, and other art-based opportunities for mess-making.
